Big things happening!

Super big and exciting things are coming our way. We are opening a DOG SPORTS FACILITY in Richmond, VA with one of our partners in crime. More info coming soon!

Also, Level Up Dogs will be absorbed into Level Up Dog Sports as our training program rolls forward. This link will go to that information.

Good Citizens

I’ve got some pretty exciting things in the works for Level Up!

I’ve decided to become certified in some of the programs that I am passionate about and the ones that I feel need more representation within rescue and within my area. The first one is officially becoming a CGC/STAR/CGCA/CGCU evaluator! I’m excited to have this become a part of our rescue dog program and hope to get my foster dogs and the dogs adopted from us involved.

I’m partnering with some local training facilities to provide testing locations and classes. Stay tuned!

Sarah was going through tough times so I had a buddy draw up Ajax and Solo’s bromance for her. Pretty cute, right? Their bromance is one for the books.

Wicked Wisdom

I have a board and train puppy with me for a while and I’m reminded that puppies are fun, dramatic little sponges who are ready to learn about the world.

Things Wicked has learned this weekend:

  • collars are devices that are put around your neck in order to slowly kill you and the only way to escape is to dramatically throw yourself across the floor
  • if the people are sitting at the table it means there is food and you should sit with your head tilted and they’ll give you some
  • harnesses are slightly less volatile than collars and if you encounter one you should either dramatically fall to the floor sideways or run full speed
  • the crate is an opera house and a perfect place to practice singing the song of your people
  • when humans talk through speakers it’s actually the voice of Satan and should cause pure terror
  • tiny humans are usually covered in food and therefore you should always lick them
  • the large border collie is a perfect being and therefore you must try to mirror everything he does
  • the small border collie may or may not be plotting to kill you – avoid at all costs
  • the sheltie and the hound are cool, for non-border collies
  • looking cute and laying your head on the floor will get you out of anything

Level Up?

I know a few of you have seen this site and seen the emails floating around so I wanted to give this space an introduction. Level Up is where I’ll be blogging and documenting my dog training journey, musings and ramblings. It’s my own little therapeutic corner of the internet. We’ll hopefully entertain some of you along the way.

But what about the name? Well, I’m a nerd. I love video games and I’ve found a link between my love of gaming and my love of agility. When you work hard in a game you level up as a character. When you work hard in agility you level up as a team. See what I did there?

Level Up is also the name of my not yet fully launched agility program. I’ve taken advantage of my current freedom and decided to tackle classes and lessons on my own. It’s been exciting so far! My partner in crime, Sarah, and I have launched some fundraising classes this Summer that have been a big success. We hope to host seminars, run throughs and more classes throughout the year and as we grow.

That’s all for now! Sit back, follow along and enjoy the journey.

“Whatever you do, do it with purpose. Being focused is not something to be ashamed of. It is something to be proud of. When you know what you are doing and have a clear vision of where you are going, you will not need to chase opportunities. Opportunities will seek you. Happiness will chase you. And, instead of being a choice, you will be the one choosing.”

Opportunity knocked and I took the first step through the door. Thanks to the generosity of a friend I’ve been given the chance to teach agility on my terms and with students who are ready to learn and love the sport like I do ..and we raise money for the rescue along the way!

I’m so excited for what my agility future has in store and I’ll be documenting a lot of that journey here. I’ll give this blog a formal introduction soon enough but for now I’m happy to get this project started up and so excited to be headed down a new path!

Welcome to Level Up Dogs! Here you’ll find our musings, adventures and agility information. We’re a pack filled with love and big dreams!
